1. REDUCED FORM OF RELATIVE CLAUSES
(Dạng rút gọn của mệnh đề quan hệ)
1. N + who/ which/ that + V à V-ing (chủ động)
Ex: The lady who talked to you yesterday had supported me.
 = The lady talking to you yesterday had supported me.
2. N + who/ which/ that + V à V3ed (bị động)
Ex: The book which was bought in the second-hand book store is on the table.
 = The book bought in the second-hand book store is on the table.
3. Dạng to-V/ to be + V3/ed
* Danh từ trước mệnh đề quan hệ cĩ các từ bổ nghĩa như sau:
a. Số thứ tự (the first, second, third, ...) + N who/ which/ that + V 
b. So sánh nhất (the + tính từ ngắn _est/ the most + tính từ dài à TO V (chủ động)
c. “the last”, “the only”
d. “somebody”, “someone”
Chú ý: 
Khi động từ của mệnh đề quan hệ ở thể bị động chúng ta sử dụng dạng rút gọn: TO BE + V3ed
Ex: The last lady who talked to you yesterday had supported me.
 = The last lady to talk to you yesterday had supported me.
Ex: The latest book which was bought in the second-hand book store is on the table.
 = The latest book to be bought in the second-hand book store is on the table.
4. Khi đại từ quan hệ đi theo sau là chủ từ & động từ khiếm khuyết
N + who/ which/ that / where + S + Và TO V (chủ động) (động từ: has to/ have to/ had to ....
Ex: English is an international language that we have to master.
 = English is an international language (for us) to master. (chủ ngữ 2 mđ khác nhau, dùng for +O)
Ex: Can you help me find the hotel where I can stay tonight?
 = Can you help me find the hotel for me stay tonight?
5. Chuyển đổi thành cụm danh từ
N + who which/ that + is/ was/ are/ were + N àN, N
 Ex: This is Mr. Jones, who is our new professor.
 = This is Mr. Jones, our new professor.
6. Rút gọn mệnh đề quan hệ cĩ dạng BE + tínhtừ
Đại từ bất định (someone/ somebody/....+ THAT + BE + tínhtừ
Ex: Did you meet anybody that was interesting at the party?
 = Did you meet anybody interesting at the party?
Trước mệnh đề quan hệ cĩ dấu phẩy & cĩ từ 2 tính từ trở lên.
Ex: My close friend, who is sociable and unselfish, is very good at math.
 = My close friend, sociable and unselfish, is very good at math.
Rút gọn mệnh đề quan hệ thành tính từ + danh từ
Ex: That is the film which is interesting.
 = That is an interesting film. 
7. Rút gọn mệnh đề quan hệ thành cụm giới từ
Ex: The apples which are on the table are unwashed.
 = The apples on the table are unwashed.
8. Khi đại từ quan hệ + HAVE/ HAVE GOT cĩ nghĩa là sở hữu (cĩ) à WITH/ WITHOUT 
 Ex: Students who don’t have ID cards cannot take the GCSE Exam.
 = Students without ID cards cannot take the GCSE Exam.

Ex: Provided that you had arrived on time, you could have caught the last bus.

Ex: If it doesn’t rain in a few days, all the trees will die.

c. Cấu trúc OR/ OTHERWISE/ WITHOUT
Ex: Study hard or you’ll fail the exam.
 	(If you don’t study hard, you’ll fail the exam.)
Ex: I revised the lessons well otherwise I would have gotten bad marks.

Ex: Without your help, I couldn’t have finished my project.
